Taxonomy: Of the three recognized subspecies (de Queiroz and Reeder 2008), only A. s. sexlineata (Eastern Six-lined Racerunner) occurs in Tennessee (Conant and Collins 1998).
Distribution: Scattered populations are know from the mountains in the east to the Mississippi River in the west, but no records exist from upper East Tennessee, the northern Cumberland Plateau, many areas of the Highland Rim and Central Basin, and most parts of extreme West Tennessee.
